The Epistle of Forgiveness
Luisa Orelli and Abdelfattah Kilito will talk about the Xi century Epistle of Forgiveness by al-Ma’arri, a vivid, satirical, and theatrical narrative set in an afterlife filled with pedantic literary scholars, hypocrites, adulterers, poets, and a variety of sly dogs, hovering among unimaginable angels and virgins whose size changes according to the wishes of the Blessed.
